Marine Corps Ball and Nebraska/Utah Trip

So I haven't done a post about the Marine Corps Ball that we went to on Nov 3.

We came into Auburn, NE at ten last night (it was a two day trip) and so now that I have time I can post about them and get things caught up.

The ball was a blast. Also very interesting. It kind of reminded me of a High School dance, but MUCH classier (most of the time) and a lot more fun.
It made me giggle though cause the girls would be looking at the other girls dresses and hair and the guys were looking at how many ribbons the other guys had on. Here is a picture of me and Scott at the beginning of the ball.

This is a group shot of us and some friends before we got called in for dinner.

After everybody was called in to the dining room by trumpet. Yes, I said by trumpet. Like they did in that one scene in Titanic. They had a little ceremony and video that was very interesting to see. See Facebook for the pics there are too many of them to put up here; people scattered and waited for the food to come.

The salad came first and it was possibly one of the weirdest salad presentations that I have seen, but very cool and really good

.

We then ate dinner which was ok. Scott liked it but I didn't really, and then we got a few pictures with some friends and then went to the casino that was in the hotel and played for a little bit, then went home.

It was a really fun night.

30 Day Challenge. Day Two

Day 2-Something you love about yourself.

I think the thing that I love most about myself is that I can love unconditionally.
Granted it does take a bit for me to let you in, but when I do you can count on the fact that I will be there no matter what. I wont turn on you, talk bad about you, or anything of that nature.

Yep. That's what I love about me. lol

30 Day Challenge. Day One.

So if you read Chloe's blog you can tell I'm stealing a lot of her ideas. I really can't help it cause they are really good and fun. I hope she doesn't mind....

Day One-Something you hate about yourself.

Hmmm.....there are a lot of things that I can say that I don't like about me.
But some of the top ones will have to be:

1. My constant foot-in-mouth syndrome.
2. My low self-esteem.
and
3. My tendancy to over-react and over think.

I honestly do try and fix these things but they are so much a part of me that it's really hard. I am by no means perfect, but I feel as long as I try and better myself. It's good enough for me.

V-Day. AKA 24 weeks!!!

So I stole this off of a friends blog.
I really liked the idea.
That's my only reason lol.
How far along?
24 weeks and 3 days.
Just passed V-day!!!

Weight gain/loss:
So far 6 lbs.
Kinda curious on how much I'm going to gain
during Thanksgiving.

Maternity Clothes?
I have one pair of Maternity pants.
But I'm having to use the Bella band more and more.
Shirts have to be longer.

Sleep:
Only if I have help. Which means Unisom.

Stretch marks:
On my thighs, other than that none that I can see

Best moment this week:
Going to the Marine Corps Ball and looking...
FABULOUS!!!!

Movement:
A TON!
She's going to be an athlete when she gets older.
FOR SURE.

Food cravings:
Sweets. Mainly pastry bites.
And mashed potatoes and green beans.
:D

Gender:
Beautiful baby girl!

Labor Signs:
None. Yay me!!!

Belly Button in or out?
A part of it is starting to poke out,
and it is starting to go flat.

What I Miss:
Being able to keep my cool.
I seem to get aggravated easier.

What I'm looking forward to:
Going on vacation in 2 days
and seeing her on an ultra sound again.

It's been awhile...

So as you prolly know we've taken an extended leave of absense on our blog. Well I'm proud to report that we will be posting more often to help keep you informed!

Lifesavers!!!

So here are two things that have seemed to have improved my life VERY much!
(Both are for my back)

The first is a foam leg pillow. I use it at night and now i can't sleep without it! It was weird at first i admit but after awhile it was heaven, I don't know exactly what it does but i'm thinking it helps with posture when you sleep and my back doesn't seem to hurt as much as it used to.

Second is a portable TENS unit. Physical Therapists use it and it was given to me by a Nurse Practitioner at the Spine Clinic at McKay Dee. It sends little electric shocks that trick your nerves into thinking there isn't any pain. And let me tell you it is a HUGE help.

HUGE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

WE"RE PREGNANT!
Roughly ten weeks we're thinking. I'm (Scott) VERY excited! Jill.... well, she is too... but not too happy about the morning sickness. We weren't able to go to the OB yet coz military health care is very lazy towards getting things done. But soon after our vacation is done we plan to make an appointment with a doc. I'm excited to see some ultra sounds.
Jill and I are expecting a girl. everyone else thinks its a boy. But who really knows their child like their parents? It's been a good time finding out new combinations of food to eat. dry macaroni... frozen peas and A-1 sauce... Vast amounts of Cafe' Rio...
I believe that we're going to be great parents in the near future. Our names for the little one will either be Genevieve Eva if it's a girl, OR, Dean Taylor if it's a boy.
On another note...
THANK YOU all those who attended our open house!!!! We are very grateful that you all could make it! And those who couldn't, we understand. The open house was a BLAST! It was very good to see all of you! We missed you all dearly. We are very thankful for all the great gifts as well! Everything will find a use for sure!
We'd like to extend a special thanks to Jill's Parents for putting it all together. Kelsey Riley for doing a wonderful job with the photo's. And last but certainly not least, Bob and Gerry Seely for letting us use their beautiful home for the Open House.
And Lastly, Jill and I are finally a family, and we are very happy. Her nor I could ask for a better person to spend our time with.

....Stay Classy San Diego!

K... so Right now Jill and I are on our way up to Utah. I am currently typing this up on my laptop using my iphone as a wireless router. (thank you jailbreak!) and in the jeep... pretty tight huh? I think so... who surfes the web on their laptop while in a moving vehicle these days?... people with technology, thats who. anywhosen....
It was Memorial day. very nice weather, an alaskan was present, and things were going very well. Jill and I needed to get out of the house and military get in to Sea World for free. So we jumped on the opportunity. We also decided to invite one of my young fearless devil pups, Lance Corporal Jones. (the alaskan previously stated)
We saw vast amounts of sea life and watched as a walrus played with his food. Jill was disgusted with the walrus while Jones and I stood highly amused by the sight. Fed the Sea Lions and some Bat Rays that were very fond of people and being touched. Jill also got to pick an oyster that held a very large pearl as an early birthday present which she now hangs around her neck on a very beautiful chain. All in all it was a very fun time. I will never forget my first time at sea world.
There are pictures of our Sea World experience on our Facebook. Check it out.

Quotes

Here's a small column telling some of our conversations (conscious or unconscious) Jill and I share together.
I'll order them from funniest down.
Number One:
Scott- *inaudible mumbling*
Jill- "what?..."
Scott- *mumble*-"in the box"
Jill- "what's in the box?"
Scott- "the shire!"
Jill- "what else is in the box?"
Scott- "hobbits"
Jill- "okay... who lives in the shire?..." (skeptical)
Scott- "Bilbo"
Jill- "are you asleep???"
Scott- "Frodo's asleep..."
I was asleep obviously... haha. good times having conversations during my REM moments.
Number Two:
"JILL! STOP JUMPING ON THE BED!!!!"
Number Three:
Scott- "I have a thinnnnnng..... aaaaaaaand i have no excuse...."
(inside joke)
more coming soon
Even though being married can be hard, it's also one of the greatest, most rewarding experiences i've ever had. We have a lot of fun growing together, being together, and constantly communicating. "Never run out of things to do together" i think to myself constantly. I believe if that happens, then growing stronger and further into your relationship with your loved one ceases. even if it's doing the chores together, at least it's together. And you open up opportunities to have funny, touching, heart warming moments that marriage gives. I've found my eternal best friend. I love her with every fiber of my being, and i strongly believe nothing will separate us.

Honeymoon

Since me and Scott eloped and soon after he had to leave we didn't really get a honeymoon. This weekend he had off for the first time being out at 29 Palms for the Matt Slam Project. Since we now have a car I decided that I was going to go up there and suprise him. Little did I know that he was planning on coming down for the weekend to suprise me. All in all I got to spend time with my husband and i was so happy that I did.

On Friday we were talking about how the beach wasn't that far away and that Scott has never been to the beach so we decided to get into our Jeep and go. The drive was semi ridiculous because of the other drivers. We've learned that if you do not want to get into a crash in California you have to purposely be a bad driver. The way we had to manuvor through the highway was terrifying and I cannot tell you how many times we could have gotten into a crash because of the other driver.

We stopped on the way there to get gas and since our Jeep's AC needs recharged it gets pretty hot during the day so we went into the gas station and got Icee's while waiting in line we saw the novelty license plates with our names on them and had to get them just to add to the fun of our trip.

It seems like everytime me and Scott go on a roadtrip we get backward and have to back track for a few minutes. This was the first of a few times that happened and it happened in Riverside CA. We had to travel a little ways to get back to the right freeway, but its ok we are starting to get used it and have decided that we are going to sit down and map out where we are going to go so we don't have to figure it out on our way there.

Since this was Scotts first time on the beach he of course had to make a sand castle. This wasn't my first time at the beach I took the pictures. I told him that sometimes the waves come and wipe out the sand castle when you least expect it and so he got down and built some defenses and to my suprised when the first wave came they actually worked and he was able to perfect his sandcastle.

The Second wave on the other hand came up to the castle but didn't destroy it. That was the third wave and it started to crumble. So we went and played in the ocean some more. I've always loved the ocean and I was glad that I was able to show Scott the love for the ocean.

It's time.....

Well as most of you know Scott and I eloped and you also know that we haven't given any "reasonable" explanations as to why we did so. Well now you get to find out the reasons for why we did so.

I do want to add that if you would like to comment on this post please be reasonable with it. By that I mean constructive criticism only if you have to criticize us. Anything other than that will be deleted and we will go back to being a private blog.

As most of you know Scott came home from school in North Carolina March 20th. You may also know that I took residence in his room at the apartment we share with our friend Eugene. When he came back I had no other place to really live so we were living together. A couple of weeks before Scott came home I was walking back to the apartment from the mailbox when I spotted the Missionaries walking around the apartment complex. I started to slow down not wanting to get caught and have to talk to them. Well it just so happens right as I was not 10 ft away from the door....they caught me. Being raised in the church and used to talking to Missionaries I said hello and started talking to them. They found out that I was an inactive member living with my "husband" and his roommate. I told them Scott and I were married because as most of you know it's not exactly kosher with the LDS Church for a boyfriend and girlfriend to live with each other. I guess you can say that I was a little ashamed for doing so but I will get to that later. They gave me their number and told me to call them if I needed anything. I told them I would and went back inside.

For the next couple of weeks I was able to hold them off, but I had the feeling that they weren't about to give up easily. Turns out I was right. Scott came home and we continued on with our lives. Scott took a week off of work to recover and to spend time with me. One of the days during the week there was a knock at the door and Scott went to go answer it he came back into the room telling me the Missionaries were going to come over the following Monday for a visit. During their visit we kept with the story that we were married and all of that jazz. They left and Scott and I decided that it was a fairly good visit and that we would like to have them back over. During that week we had a problem with a couple of the Marine Wives that had read my blog and were offended. When everything was said and done I had felt like everything about me was attacked and I wasn't able to have a piece of mind. So I decided that I was going to ask the Elders for a Priesthood Blessing. Scott had also decided that he was going to as well.
During the blessing they mentioned Scott and I as being husband and wife. I can not tell you how much shame I felt then, but I brushed it aside and moved on. This continued a couple of weeks until we received the news that Scott was going on the Project to 29 Palms. I wasn't happy about but I'm learning to deal with him leaving and such. Well to explain the situation as best as I can we have no car, which makes it difficult for me to get a job, so Scott and I have been living on a single Marines paycheck. NO we did not get married for JUST the money. We were already engaged, we were just scraping by with just that and so to live comfortably it would help if we got married.

I don't remember who mentioned it first but we sat down and talked about it and weighed our options. I mentioned that I felt incredibly guilty for lying to the Missionaries, turns out Scott did too. So we decided to do the right thing. We kept it a secret because we were planning the wedding in June and we both wanted it. We called the Missionaries and got the number for the Bishop of our ward. I told him our situation and asked him if he would be able to marry us. He said he would and we set up a time.

We were married at around 7:00 PM on April 10th 2010.

So there you have it. I'm going to post pictures here soon.

It's been a while.

Dear readers, It's been a long time since either I or Jill have written in our blog. reason being, I've been hard at work everyday since i've been back, and Jill has been applying for jobs, and keeping the house and what-not. (I love her) So, since the last time we've written we've been enjoying the company of friends, feeding missionaries home made chicken noodle soup and rolls, cooking together, reading scriptures, and getting back into our religion. Things are getting better through our hardships and trials that appear somewhat daily. We most recently have attended a "before you say "I do"" seminar. A VERY informative class for marriage. We are learning and growing everyday as a couple, and for me, life is gaining more quality. But with all this good, there is also bad. I have been chosen to take charge of the Marines in Motor Transport Company that are attending the 29 Palms Mat-Slam Project that starts on the 16th this month. I will be leaving Jill once again for a period of time unfortunately.... This stuff happens I guess when you're the hardest worker in the shop that can be trusted and relied upon. It's not my fault it rubs me the wrong way to put forth 100 precent of my effort into my work everyday. But, I'll leave this entry on a lighter note. We finally have gotten our engagement photos taken today! and Jill and I got to feed a homeless person!!!

This is where I fill in the blanks -Scott

Alrighty... looks like its my first Blog. lets get started, shall we?

Yes, it is true that we were acquaintances during our Jr. High years, but, I secretly held a crush for Jill for a long time. It wasn't till High School that I finally came out of my shell and started to date girls. Since we were at different high schools, I kind of gave up hope on getting a date with Jill. So time went on. Eventually I graduated and joined the Marine Corps. 2 years later I deployed to Helmond Province, Afghanistan. I traveled across several countries as well. This whole period of being a marine and getting sent to an active combat zone, (though, i didn't see much) I was able to grow up and mature quite a bit.

It was nearing the time where I was getting sent back to the states when Facebook suggested Jill as a friend to me. A long lost childhood crush has resurfaced... So, when I got sent home finally, after the long, 6, almost 7 months of seeing nothing but dust and sand, I decided to go crazy and let the chips fall where they may. Just having fun with life.
Shortly into my post deployment leave, I wasn't having any good luck with dates, a lot of things seemed to go wrong and just got awkward.(long weird silences... Took a girl out to a Red Lobster when she was allergic to sea food... I forgot I left my wallet at home as my date and I were waiting for a table at a nice restaurant once.) I wanted to see if Jill would be willing enough to go out for a night for dinner and a movie,(A simple date that cant go wrong) I was going out on a limb trying to finally have one good date, and I was hoping it was going to be with her. Doing everything in my book to show her that I am a nice guy and she might have a good time. Time finally went on long enough where I seemed to lose all chances of having that one good date with Jill, and my post deployment leave was burned up.
Her and I still talked a lot, but, it seemed like things were always coming up... When she told me she would be moving down to phoenix to stay with one of her friends, I was ecstatic! She had to do some chores at home to save up enough money to get the Grey Hound down to Phoenix. Around that time, I also found out I would be getting sent out to North Carolina a second time to do advanced job training before she would get to Phoenix. I was REALLY fealing the pressure at this point. I thought I wouldn't get the chance to even see her after so many years of being away from her. The day I was supposed to fly out was the day she would be getting into Phoenix... She then told me that she had a ridiculously long lay over in Vegas... "Last chance, right?... Pushing the time limit too... Could be very exciting though... Ehhhh, to heck with it, lets go to Vegas baby!"
So, on a deadline to fly out the next morning, I raced up to vegas to meet her at the bus station... Making a bunch of close calls the whole way. I had nothing but 90 something dollars to make it there and back as well. REALLY pushing it... Normally I would never do something so poorly planned and executed in my entire life, but for some reason i kept on rolling with it making quick, split second decisions without thinking of repercussions. All in all, I made it to Vegas, I got to see her get off the bus station, i had enough cash for lunch at a Carls Jr., and i decided to take her down to phoenix myself. Like Jill says, thats where it all began. In the Capitol of Second Chances.
I eventually got to fly home for the Christmas Holiday. All I could think about was "More time with Jill!" Something was itching inside of me, too. I fell hard for her. and I fell fast... I know a few good friends that got married to their spouses after only knowing them for a couple weeks... why cant that happen with me and Jill?... We are great friends, communicate well, and we really do love each other. I figured I was as good a spot in my life as any to propose to my childhood crush. So we talked about it and it felt right for both of us. I respectfully asked her dad a few days before Christmas Eve, and he gave me his approval. Christmas Eve I popped the question. She said "YES!!!" and started to cry. It was the most amazing moment in my life, and the happiest.
Now, we have 2 days left of being apart from each other... Time has not been going by fast enough it seems, and, we are so anxious and excited to be back in each others arms again.
It's been a long 4 months, Jill. Im coming home, Honey. :) I love you.
-Scott

Our Story

So for all of you who want to know or have wondered how in the heck we got together here is the gist of it.

We both went to T.H. Bell Jr. High, not sure when the exact date of our first meeting was because we were never really more than casual aquaintances. All that I really remember of him is that he was really shy and really really blonde. When it came for us to go to high school I went to Fremont and he went to Bonneville. We lost all contact with each other up until early October of 2009.

During that time I was doing my own thing and he went and joined the US Marine Corps. If he wants to blog about that I'll let him do it cause he can tell it a ton better than I will ever be able to. Anywho, I was dinking around on my Facebook page when I recieved a friend's request from him. I remembered that I went to jr high with him and accepted it, but never did anything about it until one day he messaged me on the IM. We talked for a bit catching up and all, when he tells me that he is on leave for a couple of weeks since he came back from a deployment in Afganistan (he'll have to tell you about that). He then asks me if I am doing anything that night and if not if i would like to hang out. Not going to lie, my first initial reaction to this is ummmmmmm........no, but I don't tell him that and I politely tell him I have already made plans and that I couldn't back out of them. He says its ok but to let him know when I was free. This goes on for the rest of his leave....yes, it's true, I blew him off, many times.

In the end he tells me that he is now back down in Yuma, AZ where he is stationed at the MCAS (Marine Corp Air Station). Being the blonde that I am I ask why he is down there completely forgetting that he told me he was a Marine. We then get into a very good conversation where right in the middle he tells me he has to go but would like my number so we could keep chatting (before this I always got out of giving it to him). I give it to him and we keep chatting. At the same time I'm talking to a really good friend who lives in Tempe and she tells me that if I find the money to get down there she will let me crash with her. I tell Scott this and he is really excited about it, but then preceeds to tell me he is going to North Carolina for advanced training. Eventually it came down to possibly not seeing him till he comes back in four months but there was a silver lining, I say that because Yuma is approximatley 5 hours from Las Vegas, where I had a four hour layover between buses (my transportation to Tempe). He then decided to come keep me company.

That's where it really started. So I guess you can say that we fell in love in Las Vegas, but in all reality I don't know when I fell in love with him. Anyways, we decide to have more time together that he will drive me the rest of the way to Tempe and, I guess you can say that the rest is history. To sum it all up cause this is an incredibly long post we talked when he flew out to NC and he came back for Christmas where he asked my dad for permission to marry me and purposed on Christmas Eve.

Like I said before I'll let him fill in the blanks if he wants to.

Starting a Blog

So we talked and decided that we were going to start a blog, I know I just stated the obvious but hey its my first time doing this type of thing so there :P. This is to update you on everything that is going on in mine and Scott's life, as we are away from our families. I also know that we are not married yet but soon we will so why not get on the ball?
